Man, what a wet and nasty day we had yesterday. Thank goodness I got a lot of stuff done in the morning. Looks like today might be the same. I’m going to try and get outside and mow the backyard where the chickens are before I go to work. I thought that they would keep it down for me, but that must have been wishfull thinking. I also think I am going to have to move Edward and Bella. They got out of their coop (carrier) yesterday and stayed in the same corner all day. I was pretty worried about them last night. They didn’t eat or drink or hardley even move all day. I don’t know if they are sick or what. I did notice that there is some poison ivy where I put them so I am going to move them today. I don’t know if that’s why they didn’t move much or what. They didn’t even get back in their coop last night, just spent the night in that corner. When I went out this morning they were standing up and Edward did eat something, so I am hopeful. It might just be them getting used to a new place. I guess time will tell. I would just hate to loose them, they are beautiful birds and very docile. I just hope they are okay.
Elvis is sort of the same way. I have not heard him make a sound. I put him in the run last night with the other birds and Foghorn chased him around for a bit, but he just ran and tried to hide in a corner. They did let him into the coop to roost last night, so I am hoping that is a good sign. He didn’t come out of the coop this morning when I went to let them out, but I think he was just waiting for everyone else to calm down. He is a very calm bird, and of course beautiful. I just love him. I’m hoping maybe Libby can show him at the fair this year.I still have to get her registerd with 4H, I’m hoping it’s not too late.
I tried putting the baby barred rocks in the run yesterday but the bigger birds just bullied them and one got pecked a few times, so I moved them back to the playpen, hence Elvis’s trip to the run.It seems to be going better.
